Rutabaga- Week 27

This week you are the size of a rutabaga. You are 13.6-14.8 inches long and weigh 1.5-2.5 pounds (given your Hudak blood I'm saying you are on the higher ends of the ranges). You are becoming more complex and if you arrived prematurely you could (with lots of help) survive outside of me. Your brainstem is almost fully developed and your cerebral cortex is growing more complex and mature. You are making stretching and grasping motions now in addition to your kicks. This week was the last of my 2nd trimester. Woah! Where did that go!?! Minus a few crazy lady moments in the beginning of the 2nd trimester I have really enjoyed being pregnant thus far. I am thankful I have had an easy pregnancy, and grateful to my body for all that it has done to create, nurture and grow the new life and a new organ inside me. Our bodies are truly amazing! I visited home this week- silly I know to make a trip just for a chiropractic adjustment, acupuncture and to see your hair stylist/removal person- but hey those are my people. Prices on the east coast, and in this area, are so high that it is the same price to fly home vs getting the treatments done here. While I was home my sister also threw an impromptu baby shower for me for my "local" QC friends. About 16 of my friends/family were able to come to Biaggis to enjoy some food and we were blessed with great gifts and lots of books from our loved ones. Baby is getting quite the library! After a flight delay I was able to fly to Florida to meet up with a fellow Army wife and friend. We stayed at her great aunt's house and we were able to enjoy the beach for about 20 minutes before the rain came. The rest of the trip the sun mostly hid, making the beach and pool time not as fun but the weather was perfect for our trip to the zoo. Always good to see old friends.
