This week you are the size of a pumpkin! You are about 18.9-20.9 inches and weigh 6.2-9.2 pounds. You are shedding your vernix caseosa (slowly) and you could have at least an inch of hair already! Your organs are mature and ready for life outside the womb- although you keep maturing the longer you stay in.
This week started with my Blessingway on Sunday- what a great experience! This was my first experience with a blessingway and it was great :) What actually happens is a little hard to explain... not that it was some weird hippie tradition haha. I was surrounded by 9 friends who were able to participate in henna and a few activities to send baby and me good vibes for our upcoming journey through labor and birth. We are so blessed to have such good friends in our lives! Definitely beat making a toilet paper diaper and guessing the candy poop out of a diaper.
Belly Henna from my blessingway
The hubs also came home this week- yay! Which means baby can officially come anytime he's ready to now. I had my 38 week appointment- all is looking good- still lots of fluid and a nice steady heartbeat. We were finally able to meet Lori our birth assistant and all the supplies (minus getting snacks for everyone) are officially ready to go.
This week was also the 4th of July! Friday we were invited down to Erik and Janel's for a little gathering. We were nervous about the weather- it had been in the upper 90s with a heat index of 102+ during the beginning of the week but a little rain storm made the weather absolutely PERFECT for a cookout! I even had to get a light sweater by dusk. We also had a cookout with the Krauses (Stephen's freshman year roommate) on Saturday. We were a little late to the cookout as we had to clean up the broken slider door down in the basement. Rock thrown by weed-wacker beats sliding glass door. The only thing we didn't see this weekend were fireworks!

Bump's first sparklers and 4th of July
How Far Along: 38 weeks
Total Weight Gain: about 45 pounds and feeling good!
Maternity Clothes: yep!
Stretch Marks: yep- call me tiger mama
Sleep: getting harder to get comfortable and waking more often to use the bathroom but can still manage 6-7 hours at night and a couple of good naps :)
Best Moment This Week: felt your foot- not just a kick but the outline of your 'little' foot kick me
Miss Anything: sleeping without 700 (ok really its 5) pillows
Movement: pretty predictable movements- starting to seem like a little less because you have less room but you still give good kick counts (a couple of times a day) You are still hitting my ribs and bladder- you are a long one!
Food Cravings: bleh no cravings- no room for food in there
Aversions: ugh smells- always the smells :(
Labor Signs: not many- feeling more tightening of my uterus but not really any practice contractions
Belly Button: in, although sometimes it feels like my belly is going to tear apart at night when Im trying to get comfortable
Wedding Rings: on! even in 90+ weather (unless Im outside for a long time they still fit to my liking)
Exercise: walking Odin, yoga and other exercises to get ready for labor
Mood: generally happy- like a normal person (not a crazy preggo lady) most of the time- tired!
Looking Forward To: holding him in my arms instead of my belly :)
